LIFETIME Warranty Download warranty PDF. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION TEMCo Industrial adhesive lined shrink tubing is a 3:1 flexible tubing offering the advantages of integral, adhesive-lined construction. The tubing is made from flexible polyethylene with an internal layer of special thermoplastic adhesive. The heat-shrinkable outer wall is selectively cross-linked, while maintaining the high flow and excellent adhesion of the inner sealant liner. When heated in excess of 121ºC (250ºF), the tubing rapidly shrinks to a skintight fit, forcing the melted adhesive lining to flow and cover the substrate. The adhesive forms a flexible bond with a wide variety of rubbers, plastics and metals. Upon cooling, the adhesive solidifies, forming a permanent, non-drying, flexible and water resistant barrier. Adhesive reflow will occur at temperatures above 80ºC (176ºF). What is it good for? TEMCo Industrial adhesive lined shrink tubing offers excellent protection for electronic components, wire splices, wire bundles and harness breakouts. Automotive, truck and marine wiring splices and harness breakouts are quickly and easily protected from harsh environments. What is Shrink Ratio? TEMCo Industrial adhesive lined shrink tubing has a 3:1 shrink ratio. This means that the starting diameter of the tubing as supplied is 3 times the fully contracted diameter if allowed to completely shrink. The wall thickness of the tubing is proportional to the percentage of shrinkage. How is it measured? Shrink tube is measured using the inside diameter when held in a tube position. This is the diameter of wire, tube or other cylindrical material that it will cover. It is shipped flat and will naturally be wider in this orientation than its inside tube measurement. How do I get the best performance out of it? When shrinking adhesive lined shrink tubing, it is important to achieve a complete liquid flow of the adhesive to get a complete bond with the item being covered. A good visual reference is when the tube has completely contracted and the glue has partially flown past the end of the tube. This means that a complete bond is likely. What should I use to heat the tubing? The use of a heat gun is ideal, as it is not likely to burn the tubing and provides relatively uniform heat. Additionally, if a large volume of items are to be covered, an enclosure may be made to enclose the parts or the ends of wire with shrink tubing in order to control the consistency of heating. This method works well even if the heat source remains as a heat gun. Alternately, an ordinary torch will perform adequately as long as careful attention is used to prevent burning of the tubing. When using a torch, sometimes it can be tricky to get the tubing hot enough to produce ideal adhesive flow while attempting to prevent burning. 11 Months From Now… If it doesn’t fit.
